Take Screenshot / Screenshot Options
The screenshots made by the generator are 'design time' and show no sample text, and some controls such as treeview don't show as they would at runtime. Therefore to get best results one has to take additional screenshots during runtime of the application. To easily integrate these images (and resolve some hotspot differences) the Take Screenshot tool has been added. Take Screenshot dialog has many settings organized in groups.
- Options : setting 'User defined screenshot location' true gives more control but also is more complicated.
- Screenshot : specify alternative location and name to store screenshot
- HTML : alternative location and name to store new generated HTML page
Note 1: Take Screenshot is only available for users with a license.
Note 2: The Screenshot Options dialog is identical to Take Screenshot dialog. The Options dialog shows defaults which may be overruled when taking a specific screenshot.
Note 3: Below are two screenshots showing 'User defines screenshot location' On/Off. In the latter case the dialog has fewer choices active.
Options
User defined screenshot location
Unchecked will overwrite the current image and update the hotspots on the HTML page (a backup is made of the original HTML page). Check it when you need multiple screenshots showing different values on controls.
Generate HTML files
Keep unchecked if you just want multiple pictures, but without creating new HTML pages.
Only preview area (left) only shows the real content.
Show take screenshot dialog
Uncheck this if you quickly want to make a series of runtime screenshots using the default names and your last selected locations value without the Take Screenshot popping up.
Show screenshot succeeded dialog
Checked this gives feedback that the screenshot was indeed taken. Unchecked has the advantage of one dialog less and therefore working faster.

Jpeg
Select Jpg if you want to use the HTML files for both the Help file AND for your website. Jpegs are much smaller then bitmaps and pages with Jpegs load much faster. Web visitors hate slow loading pages.
Bitmap
If you choose Bitmaps you help files will be considerably smaller then when you choose Jpeg. The reason is that HTML Help Workshop is very good at compressing bitmaps.
