The files are stored in a folder you selected during the wizard session. The default location is a subfolder of [My Documents]\Help Generator\ with your help project's name. An easy way to open the folder when you are in the HTML Help Editor is menu: File > Open Help folder.
Our software uses the MS HTML Help Workshop compiler, but it's further use should not bother you, unless you have very specific requirements. The primary source of info of course is the workshop's help file.
It seems that one of Microsoft's updates to Windows XP causes this
problem. In every case, causing Windows to install all the latest updates
has
fixed the problem. You can start the "Windows Update" process by visiting
this Microsoft web page: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Microsoft released a security patch that makes it impossible to view CHM files that are stored on a network drive (as opposed to CHM files stored on your own computer). The help file will appear, but instead of the topic text you will see an error message "this page cannot be displayed". The easiest is to download and run one of the following reg files to make the required registry changes:
The text 'This program cannot display the webpage' will appear in the right pane of the help file if the path to the chm file contains the # character
Solution: move the help file to another folder, or rename the path.
The text 'Cannot locate "mk@MSITStore: ...' will appear in the right pane of the help file if the path to the chm file contains the % character.
Solution: move the help file to another folder, or rename the path.
